IRV-CIP participate to the EU project “HORIZON-CL6-2023-BIODIV-01-14: Biodiversity friendly practices in agriculture – breeding for Integrated Pest Management (IPM)” (Acronim: FRUITFULLY) that will participate to a tender and the hope is that the project be the winner.
The project can improve the information on the behaviour of the so called resistant vine varieties by trials carried out in different ecological regions of the EU.
Three genera are considered : Citrus, Vitis, Malus. For all three, a breeding activity is foreseen with all the genetic techniques available to identify genes of resistance to the respective common pathogens.
In addition, for the vine the Project also includes a part of breeding for the search for FD resistance genes.
Alongside this activity, for the vine, as for the other crops, the evaluation of the resistant varieties to the pathogens is envisaged.
In the case of vine the resistance or tolerance to downy mildew and powdery mildew on already existing and cultivated varieties and on new established plantations in the Countries of the associates: Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Greece and Portugal is planned. All the IRV-CIP Associations will be also involved in the dissemination of the results obtained by the trials.
